A Week of Homestead Photos May 1st - 7th

Another week has come and gone and it has been an interesting one to say the least. We had a busy weekend of family fun planned and even though I had to deal with an ongoing medical issue (my darn anemia), I never let the country kids down. I was tired beyond belief, but we still managed to make it to all the planned activities!

With the weather so nice this week, we spent a lot of time outside with the critters. It is hard to spend time with them over the winter when the weather is so nasty, but there have been many treats given and friendships renewed this week. We also made a new friend this week.

I think it is time to finalize what we will plant in the garden and get it into the ground since our last frost date is here. I always head the frost dates as Michigan is notorious for changing its mind when it comes to the temperature!

So what made me smile this week?

Grumpy Goldie trying to blend in with the new mulch. I think she matches very nicely.

My doctor is very concerned about my anemia and we are working to
find out why my levels are so low. In fact, I am so low, I got a blood
transfusion! While not fun at the time, it has helped me SO much.
I almost feel back to my old self!

We attended the annual rock show  and almost lost the oldest country kid to a velociraptor.....
I love that he is finally developing a sense of humor (or maybe he was just humoring me.)

First morel mushroom of the season.... right in our own front yard!

What I spent my birthday money I got from my aunt on. The gift that will keep giving!

The littlest are growing so fast and have been spending time free ranging with the rest of the critters.

My sweet Heidi the Homestead Hound, our rescue dog who picked us a couple years ago.

Mr. Bill and the girls. I love my duckies!

Our new friend the Garter snake. I love those gold eyes.

Mr. Bill has been being a little aggressive lately so the country kids
decided he needed a group hug. LOL

Yes, Grumpy Goldie again. She is getting up there in age and I just want to spend
as much time with her as I can before we have to say goodbye one day. We have
had five long years together and I hope for many more. Always value what you
have while you can!

Remember to take time out of your busy day to find your own things to make you smile!
