Thread Bear Creations Giveaway

I am so super duper excited about today's giveaway, because the lady behind Thread Bear Creations is my best friend in the whole wide world, Sandie Mcnees! Sandie and her hubby own and operate Bear Foot Farm where they raise produce and pigs. I meet Sandie two years ago at a farmer's market and we just clicked. It is amazingly creepy how alike we are. You know that whole, two peas in a pod saying? We are those peas, but we are strange, silly peas!

For Christmas this year, Sandie gave me a set of beautifully hand embroidered towels she had made for me. They are works of art! They are so amazing I don't want to get them stained up, so I basically told everyone in my family I was the only one who could use them.

When Sandie's health recently made it harder for her to help out on the farm with the pigs when the mud is knee deep, she was feeling slightly useless. I suggested, since she had to keep her feet up anyway, why not make and sell towels. She wanted to help bring in money for the farm and I knew first hand how talented she was. Little did I know, I may or may not have turned her into a nonstop embroidering crazy lady! In my defense, she was crazy before I met her.

Just a few of the designs she has done.
Do you know what we do for fun when we get a chance to spend time together, which isn't very often? We hit the craft stores for more supplies for her ever growing hand embroidery business. I must really like her to stand there and read off thread numbers of colors she needs because honestly, the five greens she picked up all looked the same to me! And don't even get me started on the glee in her eyes when she spots the perfect sparkly thread for dragonflies.

Sandie is following in the footsteps of her mother and her grandmother in making these old fashioned embroidered flour sack dish towels. No wonder she is so good at what she does, it is in her blood! These towels are not only beautiful, heirloom quality, they are useful, better for the environment and will brighten up any kitchen.

She has also branched out and now does tote bags, aprons, pillow cases, and table covers too! And her prices are awesome! She does custom orders or you can swing by the Bank Street Market in Kalamazoo, MI and see what she has out at her table. Because she is my bestest friend in the whole wide world, she is offering up two of her towels to one of you! Check out these beauties!

And just because I think she is the coolest chick ever, I wanted to share with you the face behind Thread Bear Creations. Look at that smile and those sparkling eyes. Farmer, piglet wrangler, embroiderer extraordinaire, yup, Sandie Mcnees does it all!!! So if your in the market for embroidery work, or need a special gift for a friend or family member, contact her. I promise you will be happy with her work!

  13. I love the intricate detail of your work, the petals and leaves, the detail on the wings of the butterfly. Something I've always loved is herbs, many of which have beautiful flowers but so many don't realize that Nutmeg blooms! So my vote would be for the flowers of the world that never get recognition :)
