Chickens from Scratch Giveaway

Blogging has brought some truly gifted people into my life. Recently a wonderful friend of mine fulfilled a lifelong dream of writing a book, Chickens from Scratch, and has been so kind as to offer a copy to one of you!!

Author Janet Garman and her family live on their family farm in Maryland, where they raise vegetables and a variety of animals for fiber, eggs, meat and companionship. Janet has written this book from her wealth of knowledge gained by hands on chicken husbandry.

Janet believes that once you learn the basics, raising chickens will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. In Chickens from Scratch you will learn how and where to purchase your chicks, how to house, feed and care for them and ultimately enjoy the delicious fresh eggs the chickens will provide for your family.

I found her book to be an easy and informative read, as did the oldest country kid, who is 8. He read it cover to cover!! The book is filled with insightful details, photographs, and suggestions to help you along on your chicken raising journey. I am also honored that in the back of the book, on her list of reputable resources for chicken information, my blog is listed. What an honor!

Janet also has a successful Blog and Facebook page by the name Timber Creek Farm, where she shares her daily farm adventures. I highly recommend both sites for homesteading information and wonderful photographs. Janet's book can be purchased directly from her website just in case you don't win a copy. *wink*

Giveaway is open to residents of the US and Canada

While we can only ask you to visit the Facebook pages associated with this giveaway, please consider hitting like as well. And make sure you thank our wonderful sponsors for donating such great prizes! Without them, our Spring Fling Giveaway event would not be possible, and I know it would make their day to hear from you!

  17. Egg and Onion Sandwiches! We did a taste test...made them with farm eggs, then made them with store eggs. That was the last store egg I've eaten! LOL! Store eggs are just gross! So now I'm raising my own chicks so I don't have to beg fresh eggs from my friends with laying hens anymore!
