Chicken Boots Book Giveaway

Reading is something my hubby and myself have always enjoyed, so of course when we had children, we loved reading to them and buy them books. I do believe, we have more children’s books in our home then our small town library has on their shelves! Of course being country kids, they love books with tractors and farm critters, so when I sat down with them recently to read them Chicken Boots, I was pretty sure it would be a hit.

I don’t want to give away the story, because it is such a cute tale, but I will tell you it is about the relationship between a little girl and her best friend, who just happens to be a chicken. Of course my two boys could relate to the story as they play with our chickens. Even if the young reader doesn't own chickens, the theme of friendship shines through.

The oldest country kid (age 8) said his favorite part of the book was the illustrations. As he was thumbing through the book a second time, looking at the pictures, he noticed an egg in one of the drawings, which made him wonder if there were more eggs in the book. So he had to go through the book a third time on an eggs hunt!!! Just a hint…. You might want to hunt eggs in this book as well.

In a matter of thirty minutes of getting the book, the oldest country kid had read it multiple times and engaged with the illustrations to no end, so I can honestly say, this book will captivate your little one! Even our newly hatched chicks enjoyed the book and are looking forward to many adventures with their human friends!

The author of Chicken Boots, Sarah Barrera, has graciously provided a copy of her book for one of you to win. This would be a wonderful addition to anyone's book collection (not just kids! I think it is so cute and I am 41!) You can also purchase Chicken Boots over on Amazon if you can't wait to get your hands on a copy.

Giveaway is open to residents of the US

  2. I do love Orpingtons, but the Barred Plymouth Rocks in my flock are quite nice, too. And then there are the Speckled Sussex….

  3. English Orpingtons! They seem to have a little extra puppy dog in them over the American standard. At least mine do. I do love my Ameraucanas too. They are spazzy and hairbrained, but are kind with my orps and very cute.
