Watermelon Shark!!!

One of the dangers of living in the computer age, is your children are always sneaking around, peaking at what you're looking at! Sadly for me this meant that my oldest country kid saw the image of a watermelon shark and of course BEGGED me to make him one. Ummm, really son? So with a deep breath and a shaking knife, I was going to try to give my son exactly what he wanted (or something that looked nothing like a shark but would still be called a shark! LOL) And you know what? It was easy peasy lemon squeezy!! Or should I say melon squeezy!!! Here is how I did it and believe it or not, you can too!

First I cut the angle for the base and then popped out a wedge for the mouth….

Then I disemboweled the melon!

Next I took a potato peeler and removed just a strip around the opening to reveal the white of the rind. Using a small knife I cut triangles all the way around. At this point I felt more like I was carving a pumpkin then a watermelon.

Then I chopped up the watermelon and filled the shark back up. I cut a piece of left over rind to make a fin. Last I glued on two very big wiggly eyes and let’s just say, I am the best mom ever! LOL Yup, that’s what the oldst country kid told me…… Best mom ever, well at least for the next hour anyway!

Now tell me, don't you want to be the best mom ever? Or maybe the hit at a summer cook out? Can you imagine if you showed up for a function, like a pot luck, lugging one of these bad boys? Simple to make, yet turns the average person into a melon god!!! So get going and impress your friends and family!
